After many successful years for both Kock & Vin and Björns Bar we felt it was time to fill the gap between these two by expanding with yet another restaurant.
Some of Gothenburg’s best restaurants have been located on the corner of Arkivgatan and Geijersgatan, including Gothenburg’s first award winning restaurant and Mannerströms well known Steak. “I couldn’t just stand idly by and let this famous and historical location fall into disrepair” said Björn Persson, owner of the acclaimed restaurant Kock & Vin.
The new restaurant is meant to feel like an expanded livingroom. The modern city person spends a large part of their life in restaurants and bars and it therefore feels totally natural to name the restaurant Familjen (family). Warmth, love and good heartedness are some of the values that leave their mark after a visit to Familjen. Our idea is that you’re supposed to feel like you’re part of the family.
Modern West Swedish Gastronomi are keywords that describe the food served at Familjen. “You should feel a clear connection to Kock & Vin – but in a more rustic way” says Claes Grännsjö – part owner in Familjen and head chef at Kock & Vin. We continue to use the good contacts we have established with growers, fishermen and meat and poultry farmer located in our surrounding area. The presentation is simple – but the taste is exceptionally high.

On the 8th of March 2010 Familjen received the distinction for “Årets bästa miljö och stämning” from White Guide 2010.
